Truth About Daisies is a refreshingly inventive and energetic quintet based in Portland, Maine. The band features powerful, four-part vocal harmony, and draws inspiration from a range of stylistic traditions, including urban folk, country, and smart, melodic pop.

Our sound is built around the songwriting core of Doug Swift and Sheila McKinley, who combine to play guitars, banjo, mandolin, and harmonica. The versatile rhythm section – equally at home in a slow country waltz or a driving, Latin groove – consists of percussionist Elizabeth Burd, bassist Ronda Dale, and drummer Dan Sonenberg. All five members contribute to the lush vocal layering that is the band’s hallmark.

In the past 2 years, venues for Truth About Daisies and/or See Jane Run (our former name) have included: Maine Common Ground Fair, WERU Full Circle Fair, Camden library concert series, Maine Songwriters Association Festival, Orono Village Festival, St. Lawrence Arts & Community Center, MENSK Rooftop Film festivals, and local Portland venues such as the 8th Maine on Peaks Island, and Acoustic Coffee MSA showcase.
